Keppel Singmarine, специализираното корабостроително звено на Keppel O&M, е сключил договори с клиента от Папуа Нова Гвинея Ok Tedi Mining за построяването на 91-метров контейнеровоз и три 4 000-тонни (DWT) товарни кораба за превоз на руди и горива.
Корабостроителницата на Keppel O&M в Холандия - Keppel Verolme, ще извърши преустройство на полупотопяемата нефтена платформа Scarabeo 6 за италианския клиент Saipem Misr for Petroleu Services SAE.
KEPPEL Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) wrapped up 2011 on a record-breaking note, with latest contracts of $150 million raising the year's new orders to a high of some $10 billion.
The wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Corporation said yesterday that the $150 million worth of contracts from international customers were secured through subsidiaries Keppel Singmarine and Keppel Verolme.
Keppel Singmarine, the specialised shipbuilding division of Keppel O&M, has entered into contracts with Papua New Guinea customer Ok Tedi Mining for the construction of a 91-metre container vessel and three 4,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) bulk ore/fuel carriers.
The container vessel is capable of loading 3,000 tonnes of copper concentrate or carrying 236 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit)of containers, while the 4,000 dwt bulk ore/fuel carriers will each be able to carry a minimum of 4,000 tonnes of copper concentrate or 1,900,000 litres of bulk diesel fuel.
All the vessels are scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2013.
Keppel O&M's comprehensive yard in the Netherlands, Keppel Verolme, will undertake upgrading activities of a semisubmersible drilling rig, Scarabeo 6, for Italian customer Saipem Misr for Petroleu Services SAE.
The vessel is expected to arrive at the yard in the second quarter of 2012 for a period of six months, where it will undergo upgrading of its drilling capabilities to a water depth of 1,200 metres, the prefabrication and installation of various deck extensions, and the renewal of traction winches, cable spooling winches and double riser tensioners.
Keppel Verolme will also construct a new storage area for risers, and new sponsons and blisters will be installed to accommodate the new winches as well as enhance buoyancy and stability. The maintenance programme will include refurbishment of the accommodation.
Keppel O&M managing director Chow Yew Yuen said: 'With these contracts, our new orders for the year to date have reached a record high of some $10 billion, with deliveries extending to 2015.'
The latest contracts are not expected to have a material impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of Keppel Corporation for the current financial year.
